Meet Dr. John V. DeMaio

Chiropractor, Dr. John DemaioGambrills Chiropractor

There is no greater reward than returning patients to good health without the use of surgery and drugs.

“Initially, I was going to pursue a career as a medical doctor but the more I learned about chiropractic, the greater my interest became in this field of healthcare that I have grown to be so passionate about. There is no greater reward than returning patients to good health without the use of surgery and drugs.”

How it all began for Dr. John DeMaio

Dr. John DeMaio was born and raised in Bowie, Maryland. He attended his undergraduate pre-med studies at Prince George’s Community College and the University of Maryland. He was then accepted to New York Chiropractic College where he received academic honors. In addition, he was elected Directors Assistant at Levittown Outpatient Facility where he served his two-year internship.

After receiving his Doctorate of Chiropractic degree, Dr. DeMaio returned to Maryland and began his practice in 1990 in Annapolis. In 1995 Dr. DeMaio moved and developed a family chiropractic practice in Crofton. As a physician, (many look to Dr. DeMaio as their family doctor) he incorporates a full spectrum of medical and holistic diagnostic procedures along with nutritional, medical and “home remedy” treatments which simply “fill in the gap” in the medical care of his patients. His philosophy is to treat the cause, not the symptom and to allow the body to heal itself, when able. He is Board Certified in AMA Guides to Spinal Impairment and Disability Ratings, which allows him to effectively deal with work injuries and disabilities.

More Than Just a Chiropractor

Dr. DeMaio is an executive board member of the Maryland Chiropractic Association and has been the chiropractic sports physician to Bowie State University Athletic Department. As part of his commitment to the advancement of chiropractic care he frequently lectures on chiropractic physiology and nutrition throughout the state for the public and other healthcare providers, as well as serving on the Maryland DHMH State Board of Chiropractic Rehabilitation Committee. He is a candidate for the board certification diplomate in clinical nutrition. Dr. DeMaio is appointed to the panel for the Maryland Neurologic Institute, which is associated with the Anne Arundel Medical Center.

He has treated over 9,000 patients from the local community, Virginia and Washington, D.C. and continues to collaborate with other physicians, neurologists, orthopedists, neurosurgeons, and physiatrists dedicated to the health and well-being of all patients. He believes in a conservative approach and makes the proper medical referrals and recommendations when more aggressive treatment is required.

Outside the office

I love large families and have been blessed to have six children that range in age from 5 to 21. They certainly keep my wife, Denise and I busy and we enjoy every minute of it. I also enjoy the outdoors and always look forward to spring to bring my motorcycle out of the garage and on to the open road. Mountain biking is my way of getting back to nature and feeling it all around me. Family camping is something we enjoy along with spending time at the beach. Beaches and kids just go together.

“Thanks for visiting our site. I look forward to meeting you in person and learning how we may be of service to you. Give our Gambrills chiropractic office a call, or email me and let’s arrange a time to explore your options.”
